All prices are in US dollars (USD) and exclude tax. Sales tax or VAT is calculated by Paddle at checkout from the billing address you enter, and shown on the receipt and invoice.
What is free and what is Premium
- Free, no account needed: the first chapter of every book in the library, and the short introductions to each part of a book.
- Capitula Premium: every chapter of every book, including new chapters as they arrive.
- A free account keeps your notes and reading progress and carries your subscription between devices.
Free trial and renewal
- A valid payment method is required to start the trial. You are not charged when the trial starts.
- Both trials last 7 days. If you cancel before the trial ends you pay nothing. On the web, an account that has already had a free trial — on the web or in the app — is charged from the first day.
- If you do not cancel, the subscription starts and renews automatically at the price above — $49.99 every year or $7.99 every month — until you cancel it.
- Cancel at any time. Your Premium access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for; it does not renew again.
Paddle is the merchant of record
Web purchases are sold and processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd and Paddle.com Inc), which acts as our merchant of record and reseller. Paddle:
- takes the payment and shows the charge on your statement,
- issues the receipt and the invoice,
- calculates and remits sales tax and VAT, and
- handles refunds and chargebacks.
Any web purchase is a contract between you and Paddle for the product Capitula supplies; your licence to use Capitula is described in the Terms of Use. Paddle's own buyer terms are linked from the checkout and from every receipt.
The same membership in the app
The web reader and the Capitula app share one account. Sign in with the same account on both — the same email address, or the same Sign in with Apple / Google account — and your purchases, reading progress and notes stay attached to you.
Subscriptions bought inside the iOS app are billed by Apple, and inside the Android app by Google Play, under their store terms. The price in the app is the store's local-currency price and can differ from the USD prices on this page.
Already subscribed in the app? Do not buy again on the web — sign in here with the same account. The checkout stops a second subscription on the same account.
Managing or cancelling
- Bought on the web: open You in the web reader and choose Manage subscription, or use the link in the receipt email Paddle sends. Both open Paddle's customer portal, where you can update the payment method, see invoices, or cancel.
- Bought in the app: manage it in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).
- Or email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask us to cancel it. We reply within two business days.
Deleting your Capitula account does not cancel a subscription and does not refund it. Cancel first, then delete the account if you want to.
