Delete it yourself, in the app
Your profile, reading progress, notes and share links are deleted immediately and you are signed out on every device. This cannot be undone.
By email
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. Use the subject line "Delete my account". If you signed in with Apple's Hide My Email, tell us the relay address ending in privaterelay.appleid.com — that is the address we have on file. If you signed in with Google or an email and password, write from that email address.
We confirm by reply once it is done, within 30 days and usually much sooner.
If you have a subscription
Deleting your Capitula account, or the app, does not cancel Capitula Premium. Cancel it first:
- Bought on the web: You → Manage subscription on capitula.io, or the link in Paddle's receipt email.
- iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in identity
- Your display name and email address
- Your reading progress and bookmarks
- Your notes and their private remarks
- Your share links and their view counts
- Your avatar, if you set one
What is kept, and why
- Server request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) are rotated daily and kept up to 14 days, then discarded. They exist to run the service and stop abuse, and are not tied to a profile after deletion.
- Paddle, Apple and Google keep their own purchase records under their own policies (for tax and accounting).
- Nothing else is retained. We do not keep a copy of your account after deletion, except where the law requires it.
Reading without an account
You do not need an account to use Capitula: the library and the first chapter of every book work without signing in. If you never sign in, there is nothing on our servers to delete.
